Abstract

We compared the performance characteristics of a rapid qualitative serum pregnancy test with a standardized quantitative assay for human chorionic gonadotropin in the evaluation of women with suspected ectopic pregnancy. A threshold value of 25 mIU/mL, the rapid assay demonstrated a sensitivity of 100% and a specificity of 96%.
