To the Editor: Pyridoxine (vitamin B6) megavitaminosis (over 2 g daily) has been reported to produce progressive sensory ataxia, which improves after discontinuation of the drug.* We describe patient who had the typical picture of pyridoxine-induced sensory ataxia while taking one 500-mg capsule daily. A 34-year-old woman sought medical attention because of progressive difficulty in walking. Three years previously, she had begun daily ingestion of a multivitamin containing 200 mg of vitamin B6. Two years later, she increased her daily intake to 500 mg, which was supplemented by an additional 300 mg no more than once.
