Abstract

A comparative study was performed in which the manganese concentration in liver samples from cases of hemochromato-sis was compared with the manganese concentration of normal liver. A higher mean concentration of liver manganese was found in the former group. The possibility that manganese is involved in the cirrhosis of hemochromatosis is discussed.
