Abstract

We present a novel method for accurately determining repulsive potential functions of diatomic molecules. The method utilizes an analysis of the continuum resonance Raman spectra observed from such molecular vapors. We report the results of applying this method to determine the repulsive 1Π1u state potential function of I2.
