Abstract

Recent reports advocate α-interferon (α-Ifn) treatment for mononeuropathy multiplex in hepatitis C virus-associated cryoglobulinemia. We report 2 patients with this disorder to describe two underrecognized treatment outcomes - worsening of polyneuropathy with initiation of α-Ifn, in the absence of immunosuppression, and deterioration of liver function with prednisone, despite improvement of polyneuropathy.
