Abstract

The preliminary results presented indicate that structural and synthesis variants similar to those that appear in the parent myeloma culture can also be generated from apparently stable hybridomas. Taken together with the anecdotal experience and experiments of others, these findings indicate that it will be necessary to maintain careful quality control on monoclonal antibodies. It may even be advisable to routinely return to the freezer every few months to maintain the original cell line.
