Abstract

To the Editor: Crohn's disease is recognized as a systemic illness with a tendency to relapse over many years. Although patients with Crohn's disease may need time off from work or may need hospitalization to overcome acute exacerbations, the majority are treated as outpatients, lead normal lives, and have an almost normal life expectancy.1 We have been following a patient who has had Crohn's disease for the past 60 years and continues to lead a normal life.
