Abstract

Laparoscopic antireflux surgery is the standard of care for surgical treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease. In an effort to improve upon the limitations of standard laparoscopy, robotic devices are now being used to perform these surgeries. Although currently robotic antireflux surgery can only be considered a viable alternative to the standard laparoscopic approach, the future role that the robot will have is promising and has yet to be determined.
