Abstract
We report measurements of the visible absorption and Raman intensity dispersion of I2 molecules dissolved in chloroform. The absorption spectrum is adequately by means of a simple model for the excited state vibrational wave function. The model gives relatively unsatisfactory fits to the Raman dispersion data but is used to discuss how more precise calculations might proceed.
