It is fitting that Leonard M. Freeman, MD, an outstanding authority in nuclear medicine (radiology), has been selected to contribute this article to contempo '81. Dr Freeman is certified by the American Board of Radiology in diagnostic radiology with special competence in nuclear radiology, and by the American Board of Nuclear Medicine. He has held and holds a number of important offices in national organizations and has received many honors and awards. He is a member of the editorial board of the European Journal of Nuclear Medicine and was editorial consultant for the Physicians’ Desk Reference for Radiology and Nuclear Medicine.
