Abstract

Actinomycin D inhibited the capacity of dexamethasone to suppress pituitary ACTH secretion in vivo in normal and adrenalectomized rats. While a definitive explanation for such results awaits further elucidation, the results are consistent with the hypothesis that dexamethasone inhibits ACTH secretion by a mechanism that involves RNA synthesis.
