Hypertonicity changes the permeability of the mesothelium

Abstract

Permeability of the mesothelium for small, middle and large solutes in a hypertonic medium was measured in vitro. Hypertonicity decreased the transmesothelial transport rate of albumin whereas transfer of inulin was increased.
