Abstract

Laser-induced fluorescence excitation spectra of the zinc tetrabenzoporphine molecule in seeded pulsed supersonic expansions of He provide information on the electronic-vibrational level structure of the S0 → S1 and the S0 → S2 excitations. Electronic relaxation in the S1 manifold was interrogated by time-resolved spectroscopy, while energy-resolved, line-broadening data provided semiquantitative information on interstate radiationless relaxation from the electronic origin of the S2 state.
