Abstract

Purpose of Review: To provide the reader with an overview of contemporary management of the periocular area. Recent Findings: There are various surgical and non-surgical techniques for periocular rejuvenation, with a growing number of minimally invasive approaches. Surgical interventions include blepharoplasty, ptosis repair, browpexy, brow lift, and autologous fat grafting. Non-surgical periorbital rejuvenation techniques include botulinum toxin type A, soft tissue fillers, ablative laser resurfacing, and platelet-rich plasma. Recent surgical techniques focus on volume preservation and enhancement, such as fat repositioning or grafting, selective resection of the orbicularis oculi muscle, and careful skin removal. Summary: Improved understanding of the pathophysiology of the aging face is driving recent periorbital rejuvenation techniques toward volume preservation and enhancement.
