PROJECT NARRATIVE
This research proposal will improve our understanding of the relationship between dietary pattern and
inflammation, and its impact on kidney function decline among racial/ethnic minorities. The results of these
studies could inform novel dietary approaches to mitigate chronic kidney risk and progression, and address a
major health disparity. At the end of this mentored research period, Dr. Johns will have developed the skills
and expertise necessary to successfully transition into research independence with a focus on reducing health
disparities in chronic kidney disease. (3 sentences; limit 3 sentences)
